GET /shopping.htm&&DI=293&IG=735a21583f634e8292b596f8a0095186&POS=8&CM=WPU&CE=5&CS=AWP&SR=5 HTTP/1.1" 404 224 "

I have a shopping page, but googlebot somehow threw in the following. Anyone ever seen this before as I always check my referrer logs and have never seen this one before. Wonder if I was supposed to see this in the logs as it looks to almost be some internal gooblygook.

I could be remembering this incorrectly, but I'm pretty sure I've read that Google's bot will occasionally throw your server a filename that it's pretty darned sure doesn't actually exist, in order to verify that calls for invalid filenames do -- as they should -- result in a "404" response.

actually they are doing that procesure when you submit a sitemap in order to know what happens in a 404 situation, so basically looks like they are trying to find if you give back to the client a 404 code in the event of a unexistent url been requested
