I'm having an issue working with log files and webtrends and I've been at it so long my brain is fried. I figure I'm probably missing something obvious so here goes :-)
I'm using Enterprise 7.1 and my site is hosted in another country (US). I have WT set up to download the log file every hour.
Originally this caused a problem because the log file was never deleted so WT was downloading old data every hour causing a lot of traffic.
I then contacted my hosting provider and they wrote me a script that can be accessed through my web browser. This script clears the log file but leaves the actual file intact so that I still get logs.
So, the idea was that WT would download the file every hour and then as a Post-Processing command clear it out by using the script file. This way WT would only download new data every hour and also my hosted account would save tons of disk space.
Sound good so far? Ok, the problem is that I can't get WT's Post-Processing command to work no matter what. All the!@@$#^% thing needs to do is open a browser and access a URL but no matter what it doesn't work.
This brings me here - to ask what you guys would do. I don't want to download the whole file every hour while it grows because it's not being trimmed by WT's Post-Processing command.
Any ideas on what to do to solve this issue or a different way to skin this cat?
Thanks;
Marvin
