unable to detect referrer (JavaScript not enabled in visitor's browser

I have one site where I am using 3rd party statistics. It's quite easy to use these statistics which makes it attractive, as compared to those offered by the hosting for this site and which are far more complicated to view.

However, lately i have an increased number of entries in these statistics that, when listing visitors, show the following for "referrer"

unable to detect referrer (JavaScript not enabled in visitor's browser)

for those particular entries, it sees the operating system but not screen color or size.

For those where this is not an issue I see referrers such as yahoo or msn and I also see screen color or size. I've checked with the statistics company to be certain my code is correct and it seems to be.

The number of these entries is quite large (much larger than the percentage of people I think would disable JavaScript on their browser) so I can't figure out what's up and wondered if someone have an idea what is happening.

thanks

I meant to include: I can see the domain/ip of the records with this problem. they do not appear to be bots visiting. these are from places all over ths usa and some from other countries, using comcast, cox, etc. it tells me the city and state too.
