We get loads and loads of log file spammers, which we usually ignore. When they start getting out of hand we just block their IP address from accessing the server and that's the end of it. However, this week we've been seeing a particularly insidious case, promoting online gambling. We've seen about 700 hits from them in the last 4 days. These hits are all coming from about 20 different IP addresses, with different User Agent strings. This makes me thing that these people are using a network of compromised computers as the source of their http requests. Pretty lame. Any suggestions as to how to handle this?
