Hi all!
Sorry for the qustion, I searched the forum.. But did not find some smart solutions.

What is the cheap and powerful log analizer ?? ( not web trends)

I need that for Windows platform, so I could upload my logs and see some results.

Thanks a lot!

agreed.. most powerful I know. works out of the box but for the power it needs two or three hours reading the help files for the hundreds of ways you can configure the output. After using for 3 years, we still find new ways to make it even more powerful.

Im pleased we ditched the commercial systems 3 years back - you pay for looks, but you are limited on configuration.

One more question .. About Analog :)
Is there any way to see the referrals serarch query with the referral domain?? I mean, now I see search queries and referring domains... But could I see that, for example people with the phrase "word words" come from google???

Thanks for your help!

Neon,

add in this line to you .cfg file

REFSITEFLOOR Xr

with "X" being the minimum number of requests by that particular URL befor it shows. I ususally have it set around 10 (REFSITEFLOOR 10r) if I am doing weekly logs or 50 for monthly logs. If you set it to 1 then you get EVERY referrer.

There is a lot you can do with Analog, have a good read through the help files and documentation and you should get the idea. Mind you, it took me a while to "get" somethings...

I just now downloaded the windows version of analog.zip to my desktop. I can view the files with my zip archiver but I am unable to start the program. The "getting started" section of the readme just says click on the icon - what icon? Sorry, I'm used to programs installing themselves - this just stays zipped.

keyplayr.. you have to install manually by copying the files into a directory. There is no spiffy install program. Not that I know of anyway as I haven't been back to the site for a couple of months. He releases new versions every month or so.

If a windows user you will have to be willing to use command lines rather than GUI too. Its back to DOS days! But once you have configured a report in notepad or text editor program you can just make a shortcut to the command line program, click it and it will create the report sutomatically from theron. (As long as you have your log files in the right location too)

Thanks chiyo, this seems like a job for Super Geek (he lives downstairs) I came along waaaay after all that stuff - LOL. I woudn't know the first thing about command lines, DOS or even the correct way to set up this new folder. But a case of beer and my neighbor will get it accomplished (he got also got my last two albums free!)

OpenWebScope

It costs $100.00.

You can download the log files to your desktop and run reports locally. I like this because I can change date ranges, criteria etc . . , and generate new reports in seconds.

It generates an html file that I can modify to fit my need.

It (like anyother reporting tool) can be used as a powerful sales tool once you realize the dynamics of selling based upon well targeted and formatted data.

It has paid for itself many times over.

I am using a fantastic piece of log software called wusage by boutell. It does everything, the price is excellent, the people are helpful, they have non profit and educational discounts and best of all, they donate part of their proceeds to needy causes. They do other types of software as well, and i hope to be able to use more of their stuff in the future. All in all, i have had an excellent experience with them and their product.

just my $0.02 :-)
