So many optimizers but who to choose

Hi all,

I'm a bit new to these forums but I have been looking for a search engine optimization program. One of the problems is that I don't know what is or isn't important when looking for these services. The prices are all over but I don't think that paying more necessarily ensures getting the best. Does anyone know of a place or magazine where they compare all of these services? Or just have suggestions?

Thanks
Janine

To be honest the best place to start is by using the site search that will bring you up to speed with what’s on offer

also the library will be very helpfull, happy hunting

>looking for a search engine optimization program

Janine, it's not 100% clear what you're looking for, specifically. If it's a program like software, as tigger said there have been discussions here at the board, lengthy ones. There have been many threads discussing tracking and logging software, very good discussions.

If it's submission service, if you read up you'll see that there aren't that many places to submit to, and the general consensus is that hand submission is safest, best, and the ONLY way for some, aside from being found through some search engines finding you by crawling links.

>important when looking for these services.
>The prices are all over

Search engine optimization services are a different story, and there are a number of factors in making that choice. Books and articles are written from a given individual's perspective, so it's different because there are varying opinions.

If you're talking about doing your own optimization, again all the information you need is right here in these forums.

Which of those are you looking for input about?

Thanks for the comments. This is part of the problem - I don't actually know what these services are called. I want to submit my own sites to the search engines, and then I want to find a service where I can track my progress, like WebTrends. But Webtrends doesn't give any information on the ranking of my competitors and I also am concerned with the accuracy of the program I choose. I have read quite alot about the search engine process and have tried to apply the lessons from these forums....in many of the categories I check, I am number one in my searches so I feel confident that I can do that part. But I do all the checking myself and of course, who has time for that. I know there are services that do it I just thought that maybe there was some place to go for results that compared them so you could choose what was best for you - I was trying to skip the research.

So thats what I'm really asking for.

Im not the most experienced in here but the best research is just spending time online and working it out for yourself

There isnt really a quick fix solution to rankings because if there was, everyone would use it, which in turn, would mean you wouldnt have the advantage you were looking for in the first place

I recommend looking through this site. Optimisation is such an issue nowadays that most articles that talk about it are optimised also, which sorta makes me think they could make there points clearer if that was sacrificed

So yes, read up in these forums youll learn more in one night than you would in a month without it!

Apart from that, good luck :)
