Dirt Merchants in my Recent Referrers

can I do anything about it?

Hi there, this is relatively unchartered territory for me as Ive never encountered this before. Just this week I've started getting tons of spam sites in my recent referrers list, ie, that stinkin texas holdem poker and its variants, in addition to loans, levitra, etc, etc...

Ive had my site up for 2 years and up till this week my recent referrer links have always been clean.

I run wordpress on my homepage (only) and like all the rest of the blog community have had my dose of the scourge of comment spam. Ive installed various comment spam blockers till I got one that worked well and have been virtually comment spam free for almost two months now.

The only other new thing that has occured is that texas holdem has actually started to send me junk mail thru my contact form, which has also been spam free for 2 years. I get these emails usually every other day, and just one at a time.

1) What changed on my site that caused this to start?

2) Is there anything I can do about it?

I deal with pesky referrer spam by blocking the domain in my .htaccess file.

You can also figure out their IPs by pinging the domain name. Google "ping domain" - there are many interfaces out there where you enter the domain name and you can get their IPs. You could block their IP as well if it's easier for you.
