Massive increase in site visits appear to be robot.

We use Urchin to monitor use of our Intranet. One of the sites has a low number of visitors, showing an average of 50 pageviews per day. Every so often there is a huge spike of 6000 - 8000 page views.
This seems to correlate with visits from the robot 'k2spider' which shows around 17000 hits on these days.
Has anyone had this problem and do you know how to prevent these false pageviews?
