Hi,

I'm trying to decide between either of the above for analysing my clients logfiles. Much of the analysis will be focused on tracking online marketing campaigns such as PPC and SEO. Has anyone had any experience with any of these packages or even recommend a different one.

thanks

katey

I've tried both. (can I confess: I didn't like either). Neither was complete enough for me. They give the "big picture" of what is going on with the site just fine, but it's that critical 'drill down' into the referrals that I miss.

(oh hey, welcome to the forums).

Hi kateyhaugh, I haven't used Netracker 5 but I have used Funnel Web. What I like about Funnel Web is that I can pop any raw logs in and check them out. The product isn't registered to only look at specific sites which can get very expensive if you are dealing with lots of sites.

I am currently evaluating both products at the moment and both have some great features.

Funnelweb is extremely fast in collating and producing your reports to view. Nettracker's output reports are browser based so most of your "end users" won't have any problem navigating around. Both are customisable. Nettracker are soon to release a version 6 I've been told.

Both have followed up since the evaluation started, asking my initial thoughts, did I have problems. Both have been very thorough I can't fault either company for their pre-sales.

The decision for me will come down to several factors. Price, functionality, usage and motivation for purchasing will all play a part Everyone's reasons will be different.

Both products are able to do the job and for the price they should. I'd recommend either of them to you without hesitation but maybe a bit more detail on what you want to do and I might sway towards one in partiicular.

Hi guys
cheers for all the feedback. Yes, I too am very impressed with how fast Funnel Web can process log files. However, as we want to test and measure online marketing campaigns I'm finding the 'drill down' capabilities of netracker very useful, in particular the inital referrer and keyword detail. Keep the helpful insights coming! thanks!

I've trialled NetTracker and I've used all the others. NetTracker is the best for your needs, no question. But it's too expensive, in my book.

You'd be cheaper getting a programmer to write you a few macros for Excel, import your log files into a spreadsheet, and hey presto, all the data mining you want.
