This is constantly showing up in my logs "xopy". It is a domian, but comes from many, many different IP's. Plus it has multiple browsers.

So, are you seeing "xopy" in your logs?
Do you know what it means?

Thanks,

If the what appears to be an referrer link is followed by a pluralized version of the word "friendslink(s).php" it'sa log spammer.

This week, they come several times from just two IP Numbers, each time requesting a different file as though trying to appear human.

The debate continues here at WebmasterWorld, with respect to banning log spammers or not banning them.

I'm of the former school of thought.

Yes, it is the one you referred to, they are very active and will be getting a nasty email.

What a waste of our bandwidth.

Would that be the logspamming, or the nasty email?
(My bet is "both") :)

I get a few different ones trying this, my only concern is that should more people start this garbage then my top 10 referrer stats will be used up by garbage!

I was seeing several referrers daily, then I banned them:

RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} xopy\.com

The next day I saw 3 failed attempts, now not any.

I'm getting them also. So far, not enough to do any harm, but I'm keeping an eye on them.

Has anyone been hit from any IP addressed besides:
205.209.177.70
65.75.134.180

Mods, please X-out the two IPs if they are contrary to the TOS. I looked, but couldn't find anything against it. TIA.

P.S. Happy Holidays!

Those are the same ip's I've been seeing. Interesting that the destination url for the log spam displays AdSense ads....

It appears that xopy is actually a stripped down browser that you can download that is free to be used by anyone.
I did a search on google and found that following.
[digitalairways.com...]

So I am not certain why you would bother to block this.

My angry email worked with xopy. They are no longer haunting my logs.
