What's the mysterious /advs/img/pointer_arrow.gif

Appears in server logs all over the net

I get requests for </advs/img/pointer_arrow.gif> which I've never had on my server. I searched G and this shows up in lots of other people's server logs, too. The requesting page is always a page *within* my server, so it's not logfile spam. It's also not requested frequently enough to be spam even if the referer was an external page.

Maybe it's some spyware or some previously-opened popup window from some other site that's requesting an image from the wrong window/frame?

Anyone know what this is?
