hi,

anyone have any good solutions as to how to track visitors from links without putting a tracking URL on them. we want to keep the URL clean to benefit from anchor text, etc

we track ppc listings using our own cookie-based system. i suppose i could set a cookie based on HTTP_REFERER, but that is such an non-exact variable.

is there another way?

many thanks

p.s. we have excellent log analysis, but the sales are made offsite, so a cookie is the only way to track through to sale confirmation.

I just downloaded the free trial of clicktracks analyzer. It can do something similar.
It can tell me search engine, vs keyword used, vs who made it to the checkout/final reciept page or any other page you set. I am unsure still if it is worth the money though.
