When setting up an Include Filter, the Summary tab leads with the following:

This Hit Filter will include log activity that matches at least one value from each of the following filter elements:

The documentation also appears to back this up.

From my experimentation however, it seems that the Filter only includes activity where ALL of the filter elements are matched. So, if you have a URL element and a Multi Homed Domain element, both must match for the activity to be included, whereas the Summary tab indicates that either one will suffice.

The same thing applies to Exclude Filters.

Is this the case or am I doing something wrong?

If you have multiple things WITHIN a filter, all must apply (i.e. AND). If you have multiple individual filters, any one applies (i.e. OR). And Exclude filters overrule Include filters.

The documentation is saying that within-filter elements are AND, though it's not said clearly. It says the filter applies if there is a match with EACH of the elements of the filter. That's an AND. If it said "match with ANY of the elements of the filter" it would be an OR.
