Different tracking tools, different results?

The difference is so huge.

I has been using free website counter offered by a famous hosting company. Its statistics show my website gets about 100 unique visitors every day. Recently my hosting service starts to provide log files. I am using free edition of Weblog to analyze the logs. It's astonishing that Weblog tells me I get about 800 unique visitors a day. :o Which one shall I trust? Anybody has any experience?

I'm hoping that the hosting service has its act together enough to do a reasonably accurate job of reporting, as opposed to somebody using a free program for the first time. So I'd start by trusting them more.

But with such tiny logs, I think you'd learn a lot by opening them and going through them line by line. Importing into Excel and sorting by IP would be even better. You might have to do a little research to know what each field in a line means. There's no better way to learn about traffic reporting and your own visitors.
