Hi,

I have a problem setting up my WebTrends Analyser right. I already have an exclude Hitfilter on *.gif which filters most of the 0 page hits out.

Now I still have quite a lot hits on 0 page views (still 50% of all views).
Is there a possibility to find out where these hits come from or a filter to get out all these 0 page views?

Thanks

Now I even put in exclude filter for *.gif, *.jpg, *.swf, *.txt, *.pdf.
I still have 0 page visits by 17%?!?

how can i exclude these 17% in my analysis? I want to get the 0 page visits to 0% or at least close to it...

look at your Most Accessed File Types report to see what you have missed. You'll be looking for a file type that does not get recorded as a page.

This is my Most Accessed File Types report:

1. htm - 15.212 - 56,92%
2. css - 9.971 - 37,31%
3. js - 1.405 - 5,26%
4. nsf - 47 - 0,18%
5. exe - 25 - 0,09%
6. jar - 14 - 0,05%
7. rtf - 14 - 0,05%
8. 1 - 10 - 0,04%
...
and:
0 pages - 471 - 15,69%
1 page - 958 - 31,91%

what file type could it be?

Thx for your help...

css and js should be filtered out (in my opinion). Not sure about the others. Possibly exe.

By the way, 0-page visits can sometimes be hits from other sites that are displaying something on your site without your permission. So if your exe's are proprietary for example, you might be interested if somebody's giving them away from their site.

thx...

I excluded now *.js and *.css and it really works. I now have 0 page views close to 0%.

What I do not understand is how a *.css File or *.js can be a hit from other sites that are displaying something on my page?
Jpg or Gif I understand, but why does the CSS give me a hit of 0 page view?

I've never understood how css and js files can be requested without (or before) requesting the related html files, but I'm sure it makes sense to more technical people.

Your 0 page visits aren't necessarily other sites displaying your material. It could be people who are coming to your site from a link or even a direct entry whose browsers are requesting these files before requesting a page file --- and then they back-button or otherwise leave your site immediately, before a page file is asked for.

I don't really know what I'm talking about here since I'm not too technical! But I do know that you can find out more, if you wish, by creating a profile that includes ONLY these filetypes, then looking at the referrers in the report. You may find certain other sites appearing over and over.
