Adsense Showing Alternative Ads On Indexed Pages

Has anyone seen a rise in the number of instances that alternative ads are periodically shown on pages you know have been indexed. Most of the time certain pages show regular ads. Other times, those same pages show alternative ads.

Any idea why this occurs? I've sent google numerous screenshots and timestamps of this occuring but they politely blow me off by saying "it works now".

It sounds as though there's not enough targeted ads available to fill the available inventory. It happens sometimes, and it's just part of how things work.

It can happen as advertisers come and go; it can also happen if other sites in your niche start putting Adsense on new pages.

Congratulate yourself for having alternate ads in place. It's better than showing PSA's.
