Hi all,
I'm vriting hoping to solve a big problem I've.
I'm building a site for a friend of mine on Japanese language. He doesn't understand
anything of computers, and I don't understand anything of Japanese.
The problem is that: I have (actually he) a jp domain and He would like to put the
jp domain in japan (he said that it is related to SE optimization).
Actually I'm ascking you if you have a solution to propose me. I'm not able to
understand which Service Provider choose since I'm not able to understand which one will
give me the change to have extendlog, so I can use and study it with programs like WebTrends.
Can someone of you helpme on solving this problem?
What should I ask?
What should I find?

Thank you very much for the patient.

A .jp domain name is not different from any other domain name really. You can host the site anywhere in the world...all you have to tell the registrar where to point the DNS. If you know of a hosting service that has the features you want (i.e., log analysis), just host the site there. Most hosting sites will provide you with logs, so you could download them yourself and use something like Analog.

Hi bil,
Thank you very much for your answer. Actually some Japanese ISP finally answered me and it looks like they understand my question. They will leave download logs for analysis. The problem in fact was this one, since the friend of mine want the domain to stay in japan... something related to SE that I don't understand. Thank you very much again.

Japanese hosting rates are generally very expensive. Your friend is paying for customer support, and maybe a control panel, in Japanese. There are no SEO benefits to physical hosting location. As long as your friend has the .jp name it can be hosted anywhere.

If your friend doesn't know anything about computers, as you say, you will need to maintain the site. My suggestion is that you host the site someplace where you feel comfortable.
