Webtrends cannot access remote logfiles?

Hello,
im using Webtrends Log analyser to collect and analyse from different servers. This should be done at night. I use "net use" command to connect to the log server, but Webtrends is not able to access the files. My Questions:
1) Should the service run under the same account that mapps the drive(batch)?
2)Is it true, that Webtrends doesn´t work together with UNC?
3)Is it also true that ftp doesn´t understand WildCards and can only get ONE SINGLE file?
(that would make ftp useless?!)

Thank you for every hint!

I am having the same problem with some logfiles and sites. Some are fine while others are will not download... they get to 99% and freeze. May I ask who is your host?

Here's a thing about WT Log analyzer...

The small print in your license only lets you use it on one server.

So don't bother asking the netiq for support on this!

I know the answer to 3)
3)Is it also true that ftp doesn´t understand WildCards and can only get ONE SINGLE file?
No - not true, However you need to choose the right file type for webtrends to work of course and that generally I have found to be harder than expected.

Last time I had this problem we downloaded (ftp) a batch of logfiles to a local machine so we could narrow the problem down... Once we figured out how to interpret the files locally, it was just a case of the FTP connection to work on, not the filetype. As I recall (it was a long time ago) we suddenly found success when we set the time intervals to 1 miute past midnight to 1 minute before the next midnight.

Dixon.

P.S. - welcome to webmasterworld

Just in case switching analyzer is an option: Urchin is great at accessing remote log files.
