can i run a stats log on free homepages

i have free homepages i used as doorways, some are nicely placed, is there a way to track traffic to these pages by installing a stats file in the main directory that can track visitors so i can see what kind of traffic they are getting and who is going there, perhaps even to find out what spiders are visiting, if so can any one point me to the dynamics of such file..

I am not sure if you can install anything to give you a real log type file.

You may want to check out some of the image based counters, some of which have decent referral info:

[sitemeter.com...]
[webtrendslive.com...]

There are many others. I have used both of these, and they were pretty good considering the limitations of image/JS based counters.
