One view will produce more lines:
GET /images/blah1.gif
GET /flash/blah.swf
....

WebTrends uses only files that are defined as pages when it counts page views. The hits number should be closer to the number of lines in your log file - this includes images, PDFs, etc.

Any help will be highly appreciated
Many thanks

Which WebTrends product are you using, and what version?

Page View - A hit to any file classified as a page. Contrast page views with hits, which counts files of every type.

By way of narrowing this down:

What's WRC telling you about "hits" (vs page views)?

Do you have any filters turned on?

Why are your URLs without stems or paths? (GET?param=..)

Are you using iPlanet by any chance?

Is this 10-line sample log an actual small log that you're trying to analyze to troubleshoot it? If so, remember that WT will ignore the very last line in any log.

Hits are the same figure as pages..

Do you have any filters turned on? None..I triple checked

Why are your URLs without stems or paths? (GET?param=..)
The initial web uses Struts so i have stripped alof of this out using a java program i created. Hence what you see abve is exactly what is in the logs.

Are you using iPlanet by any chance? Not to my knowledge

Is this 10-line sample log an actual small log that you're trying to analyze to troubleshoot it?
The orginal log has arnd 500,000 lines, but only says 167,000 pages...it looses some 300,000 pages. And they are all pages, as the logs doesnt record hits.

If so, remember that WT will ignore the very last line in any log. Yep..but 1 loss of page should still be abve 500,000

Thanks for the help..hope this info is useful..and u can help me further..

I'm pretty sure your problem is in the preprocessing you do with the URLs. If you change it so there's always a space after the GET, and there is always at least a? at the beginning of the URL string, I think you'll get what you need. I analyzed this sample of 8 lines as its own log, and the last line did not analyze and never will because it's the last line in the log. The 5th line which doesn't have a "?" also did not analyze. Adding a "?" made it show up.

So basically I'm saying that all your lines that have no "?" are not showing up in your reports. See if that helps.
