I have recently taken over a client site which is on a Windows server now but will soon be moving to a Linux one, with which I am more comfortable.

In the meantime I would like to have a look at the logs for this site, which are stored in .log files on the server and I can pull down via FTP. However I cannot seem to get these to open in Excel/Access as they do not seem to be delimited in any way that I can figure out.

Is there a way of usefully reading these? Am I missing something simple?

The host provides no way of reading them, they will for an annual fee but as we are about to move that is not worth paying.

Log files are usually delimited with spaces. You can choose that as delimiter in Excel.

Yes open with Excel and choose delimited, space. Excel will only open 65,000 lines though.
