For several directories on my widget site, there are results that look like this:

# Hits..... Last Date:........File Requested:
46597: Feb/24/04 /time/
318: Feb/ 9/04 /time/?S=A
318: Feb/ 5/04 /time/?D=A
268: Feb/ 3/04 /time/?N=D
260: Feb/ 7/04 /time/?M=A
075: Feb/12/03 /time/?N=A

/time/ is an expected place for visitors, but I don't understand what the?S=A refers to. This is my only site that has these curious entries.

Can anyone tell me what these are for? The only files in the directory are an index.htm file and four .jpg images. No subdirectory, and it's a linux server.

Thanks for your help.

It looks like your directory indexes are shown when there's no index.html page present. When this is the case, the headings of each column can be clicked on to re-order the directory listing (sort by date asc/desc, name asc/desc, etc.). Try it yourself.

You can improve security by disallowing indexing of directories.
