Google indexing new pages

...with no links to them?

A while ago I created a new folder on my webserver, and put some ASP pages on it someone sent to me, to modify and test them.

To my surprise, within an hour Google was indexing a couple of these pages, even though there were no links whatsoever to them. So how on earth did they know the pages were there?

Has anyone seen this before? Of course Google itself doesn't reply to the email I sent them about this a month ago...

there have been a few discussions around this sort of thing happening - one answer might be the google toolbar, although this has been denied by GG, other might be host auto submission programs - a couple of threads that might help:

Well, nobody but me knew the pages were there, and I don't use Google's toolbar. I hadn't even looked at them with my browser, just with Visual InterDev...
