well need help to study logs

this not what i am doing the first time i used to study logs with a particular software till now but now when i have used another software recently both of them show me different results so it has become hard for me to choose which one is right ....

can anyone tell me the right way of studying logs for finding out information like hits, visitors, referrers, top entry pages ....
and which are software used to study the logs which gives reliable results.

which is the sofware used by every web master ...
please help me solve this ...

try awstats for this.

well i do use log expert and also sawmill but then could these tools be trusted i mean that they show valid results ...
and if u try some other software it shows diff results i am really confused ... here

Analog is very good. It is a little more confusing to use at first, and requires editing a configuration file to turn things on and off, but it will do fairly much everything that every other log analyzer can do, (DNS look-ups included), with a much greater degree of control.

It's a free download.

what is the best way to go about it so u get valid results without much hassale ....

how do the experts in the field do ... so that we keep track of all the traffic we get

help this i would get the answer i guess everyone here is looking for ...:(
