Doing a bunch of whois on some questionable accesses to my site(s)..

This is the first time I saw this get "spitout".. on an AOL IP...

Hehehe, do a whois lookup for others ... you'd be suprised to see Microsoft.com and Google.com's entries.

We had this discussed here but i don't remember the thread. It's pretty simple: some whois databases check from left to right and list all matching records that start with what you searched. Some buttheads know this and register subdomains that start with popular domain names to get some exposure to their little life.

So

AOL.COM.SAYS.HARASS.SOFTY797.FOR.SUBVERTER.NET

is just a sub domain of

SUBVERTER.NET.
