I am a member of the web team at the National Gallery of Art in DC. I have recently been tasked with tracking our site's traffic and I am trying to select the right application. I have been reading through past posts, but could still use some guidance. I think we don't want something that is shareware or opensource (as much as I believe in those solutions), because we want good tech support. As you can imagine, we get A LOT of traffic so the software should be able to parse very large log files. The main ones I am looking at at the moment are: Webrends, Urchin, and DeepMetrix. How do these compare?
Also, should I go with an outsourced solution where everything is done by the stats provider or an app on my end that analyzes the logs? I have heard claims by deepmetrix that the first is better, but I wonder if thats true. Thanks!
