Hi everyone,
Is it possible to capture the number of visits that came from people who have my site bookmarked and came directly to it that way, particularly in the reports that show referring sites? I notice that my own site is the highest referral site and it's probably because it's capturing navigation within the site and counting that as a "referral" from the site, to the site, but are the referrals from bookmarks captured in that same number, or is it not counted at all as a referral? If not, how do i capture bookmark visits?
Thanks!

welcome to ww :)

Traffic from bookmarks and browser's address bar appears as empty referrals in log files.
You can count them as "unidentified"

If you are using "bookmark this site" Java Script, you could change its url to [yoursite.com...] I haven't tried this myself, just read this tip from somewhere else.

If you use a favicon.ico you can track access to that and if you don't you can track failed attempts to access it.

Velmu's idea will tell you how many visitors bookmark the site during any reporting period.

But the favicon tracking is the only way to measure how many visitors are using the bookmarks.

Both are valid and very useful in your reports.

There's a few browsers that request favicon every visit, opera springs to mind.
