Hi,

I've got a terrific set of log files that all show a Google AdWord traffic "tracking urls" as index.htm?gaw=1, index.htm?gaw=2 etc.

Using WebTrends 7, I am having a heck of a time trying to either filter in or filter out these results.

Editing the profile filters and using this *gaw* as a referrer, as a url parameter or as an entry page doesn't seem to work.

Is there a distinct Google IP that is the source of the AdWords traffic by chance?

Thank in advance.

C.

The main poblem is they don't always appear to come from google ips. This, of course, is why we use the query string at the end of the url in the ads themselves.

I haven't used the filters too much so I am not sure of the exact answer. I would have thought that the url param would have worked.

Did you get any farther with this?

Tried pretty much everything and then got the good folks at NetIQ on the phone - we tried everything else again, (they even worked on my logs...) to no real avail as I am looking for something it can't do!

The product (7.0 C) was not designed for this use as they hadn't invented this yet when it was built.

They did reccomend one workaround which is to do a search and replace in the logfiles - renaming the index.htm?gaw=1 to something like gaw1index.htm and going from there.

I haven't tried this, but in theory I can see it may work.

Version 8 doesn't seem much better - although the support guy at NetIQ said this would do it.

At the very least, there is a workaround - and I now know to use landing pages in addition to tracking urls!
