.htaccess logging

I am trying to log an .htaccess protected directory. The only tools available from my hoster are .save files that create .txt files. SSI is not an option (the .htaccess route didn't work). Is there anyway to create a log file of the .htaccess logins?

Many Thanks,
Matt

Ya, run a stand alone tracking program in that directory. You must have logs of some sort you can parse out. If not, get a new host.

There is a chance that AXS will do what you want to do (and its free) [xav.com...]
It can trigger logging from SSI, PHP, CGI or even javascript / image tags.
