Excuse the newbie, but I was looking around the web trying to find solutions for archive & query of web log files. Does everybody just use gzip? What happens if my web traffic gets large and I still want to query across some historical range? The only product I could find on the web was Addamark, and that's for large scale sites. Any mid-grade players? Thanks everybody!

I believe analog lets you include a range of files (by filename or folder) and unzip them - was that your question or did I misunderstand?

Sorry, forgot Welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]!

Thats right, nancyb, you need to have gzip installed and give analog the path in the config AFAICR.

I think you could also point analog at a CD of archived logs/gzipped logs. I never throw away my logs, stats go back to 1997 ;)

BTW analog is free!
