SORRY WRONG HEADLINE, 28th of April 2003!

Hi all,

I had allmost double of my standard traffic on my main domain.

YEAH! Was my first thought.

I checked with the other domains I take care of. Even the ones that usually have 150 requests per day only, went to two or three times the traffic on the 28th of April.

Anybody watching the same effect?

Best

I have two sets of numbers total traffic and real users (excluding bots, spiders and the like). Total traffic was the busiest day ever (site is over 4yrs old). Real users were high but not as high.

Wonder if the same is true for news sites ....

It was very busy for me, but not the busiest of the month by a long way :)

You know, I was about ready to post a topic to see if anyone saw a spike in traffic on that day. I saw it across the board on about 20 sites that I monitor. It was enough to draw attention to it.

I checked through a bunch of other website statistics found over google "wwwstat".

A lot show no difference. But some even had a stronger peek on the 28th than my pages.

My statistics show nothing unusual except of the total traffic that day.

I have no idea what happened.

Graywolf, can you explain to me in simple terms how you separate the traffic. I would like to do this. I use NetTracker, and I can exclude IP addresses, but then not sure how to get the total traffic...

I use webtrends, they have a filter for common bots and spiders. You can also create your own custom filters for internal traffic or whatever else you wanted to filter out.

For total traffic you run the reports with no filters.
