photograph slide shows

what's the best/easiest way?

I've created a web page and wish to have as the central theme a slide show of various photographs.

What's the best way to achieve this or where's the best place to look to find out? Is there something simple in html\dhtml or some scripting perhaps?

i recently did something like this.
this is not actually a slideshow, but the main image changes to reflect the thumbnail that is rolled-over.
the code is in the following thread. it's very simple, even if you know nothing about javascript, like me.

Javascript slide show script. That's what you would search for. Pretty easy, all you have to do is configure a couple variables (where the images are stored, etc.) and you're good to go.

i found some javascript on another site that works a treat - it even fades in/out slowly too.
