...ok.... I'm not talking about regular default search which brings up Google results... I'm talking about if you click the directory link at the top of the default SERPs and you go back into the old Yahoo directory results... just dropped from #1 to #125 on one site and seeing this across the board for a number of top 10s that are OLD... don't know if this is just specific to me, or others are seeing this as well... feedback?

Yup, looks like I got smoked as well. Looking closer, it looks like a bunch of sites that used to rank well in the directory search got kicked down.

Me too. I had the #1 and #2 site for my keyword. Now I'm nowhere to be found. Not good. Yahoo!

>>Well, why does she hate you?<<

How could you love someone whose rankings are dropping like anchors from airplanes? ;)

Change the name of this string, or we are going to get more foolish posts like that one.

Regarding the Yahoo Dir....it must be a temporary thing. The results are awful. All of the important sites are burried.

man, that might be the death blow for me... just brutal. Even sites that ranked #1 for 3 keyword terms (for years) are now buried deep... almost like they got banned. wow, talk about kick you when you are down... brutal

I don't think there's really a bright side to look on, but the directory listing traffic was plummeting anyway...

I'm seeing the same thing...

I have a feeling that eventually we're going to see Yahoo come back showing directory listings by defualt under a new algo..

hopefully their still working on it..

>How could you love someone whose rankings are dropping like anchors from airplanes?

how true, how true...

>why does she hate you?

maybe because she found me flirting with DMOZ? But DMOZ has no interest in me either... I keep calling, but she never returns my calls. I guess both find my cheap bar tricks boring.

I am seeing some huge drops for some sites and some have remained unchanged.

I have a gut feeling that this is part of some major algo shift just over the horizon. The dark before the dawn....I'm hoping.

I can't beleive how little is being said about this in the forums today. I wonder if not everyone can see it. Or people have just stopped caring about the Directory listings.

people have just stopped caring about the Directory listings

That about sums it up.

I don't remember the last time I actually used the Yahoo directory to find anything... or the last time I checked any of my rankings there... ;) All my Yahoo traffic seems to come from Google.yahoo rather than the actual Yahoo listings.

Well then...I guess I was holding out some hope that the old Directory listing would come back and replace the Google SERPS. Now it doesn't matter b/c I am burried. Maybe that was the intent...kill the malcontents will to fight by removing hope. Very Machiavellian.

I've seen this too! I do not believe this will be how it remains, so I have made little comment. But, a search on 'the-company-name' now lists me well below sites which have the single words 'the', 'company' or 'name' in their title and/or description.

Bare with it - no comment can really be made until we have gone through a couple of updates :)

Hi makemetop...at least I know someone else is seeing it.

maybe times are coming that all those "SE dont oweyou nothing ,if you dont liek go elsewhere, they can kill your 5 year biz instanly and you have no right to complain" people will start thinking in different direction after this and symhatize with us who have been "killed" by google :)

amazing, few months ago i would be pulling my hair out, now that i see bad thing after bad thing happeningto others to i jsut smile at my destiny :) maybe time is coming when we all have to start"all over again".

even if they stopped showing the dir listings, I still liked to think that I ranked in them.

I do see some strange default SERPS though.... looks like the red arrow listings at the top and non red arrow at the bottom... and these results don't mirror Google, nor Dir results... don't know what they are. If I was still ranking I would still hold some hope that they would put the red arrow listings at the top, with me on top... but as it is... gulp.... I just don't rank in Yahoo anymore.

...but I agree... it looks like flux... sit and wait it out

sit and wait it out
Or buy everyone some flowers and take them all out to dinner... maybe your ex-girlfriend and Yahoo will hit it off, and forgive your sins as thanks for matchmaking.

mivox, my old girlfriend IS yahoo... she used to love me... used to introduce lots of people to me... wanted the world to know about me... now she wants people to forget about me... oh... it's painful when the woman of your dreams rejects you... painful. And the rest of them? where did all those pretty little engines go? I'm so hot and bothered that now I'm considering PAYING for it... I never thought I would stoop so low. But Google has gotten fat and arrogant as she got older.... too many boyfriends, IMHO. And I always hit on dmoz during the wrong time of the month.... permanently cranky, that one is... the only time you can win her favor is if you know one of her friends... sad days indeed.

Hmmm... well, I don't think introducing Yahoo and DMOZ over dinner would be wise, and of course Y! has already met Google.

It would seem your matchmaking options are pretty limited, unless Yahoo has a secret 'thing' for faded stars... in which case, fixing her up with AltaVista or Inktomi might be an option. (But then, not many people want to hook back up with an ex, so you might not want to bother inviting Ink.)

Maybe you could convince Yahoo to take a vow of celibacy and they could go back to using their own directory rather than partnering up with someone who will only leave them penniless and brokenhearted.

"so you might not want to bother inviting Ink"

Your forgetting that Yahoo dated AV before she ever dated Ink..

Dogboy - I think your ex is going through some difficult times right now.. Give her a month or so to cool off and figure some things out.. And hopefully she'll be back with open arms :)

Oooh... that's right. The little floozy. I think the only way to reliably charm that sort of gal is with $$. Look how Google's had to make room for Overture!

Thank god I installed a little bar in my office or I'd be having a bad day today.

I do see those results and they are pretty hideous.

Even I, the hopeless optimist, am finding it hard to see something good in this.

Maybe this thread is finally relevant, after 1.5 years?
