I was lucky to get a free listing in Yahoo about a year ago. However it seems to have been removed from the directory. This has had a bad impact on both our Google results (which are almost non-existant now) and our business ;o(

Has anyone else experienced being removed and was it any good emailing Yahoo?

Welcome to Webmaster World, Missy.

Are you drilling down to the category where it was, or are you simply searching for it?

Hi, thanks for making me feel welcome.

I am doing the directory search for the entire URL, and also looking through the directory category which it was in before.

Thanks.

Hi Missy,

Welcome to WebmasterWorld.

Did you try typing in your URL in the search box, and clicking on the "Directory" bar on the top right to search for your site?

If it's not there, they may have dropped you. Has your site been down lately? Are there any reasons why this may have happened?

My site hasn't been down, I get a weekly report and it shows 100% uptime. ;o(

Can you appeal against it or is it worth me paying to try and get back in? Do they normally tell you if they are dropping you and is it normal to just be dropped like that?

We were previously the top ranking site for our keywords which were competitive.

Thanks for any insight!

Woops forgot to say, yes I typed the URL into the sarch box and tried the "Directory" option, nothing.

I dug out the original email Yahoo sent when my site was included, and replied to it asking where it had gone. This was about 5 days ago, it didn't bounce so I think the named person at Yahoo is still there.

Hey Missy, in another thread on Yahoo we're discussing that there have been some changes in the Directory listings as well, could it be that your site is buried? Did you check through all of the category pages? Could they have switched your site to another category?

Otherwise, you've already done what you needed to do - email them. There's a good chance you won't hear back.

In which case I'd advise you to figure out how to rank in Google and do a detailed cost benefit analysis before submitting your site to Yahoo. Personally, I wouldn't submit at this point, but there's a lot of controversy surrounding this topic, so you'll have to figure it out for your particula site and niche and determine whether or not it'll be worth it for you.
