I was doing some research into how much traffic is generated from the same SERPS in Yahoo and Google.

I found two interesting things:

1. One site is getting 4x more traffic from Yahoo (123) than Google (22). This site is ranking #18 for a single, competitive keyword.

The site is in the Yahoo directory, but Yahoo is displaying the 'ransom note' for a description.

2. Another site is getting 13% more traffic from Google than Yahoo. This is for a christmas related site, where people are typing different keyword combinations. However, in Google, 26% out of 39% is coming from a 2 word phrase, whereas in Yahoo, this same phrase is generating only 15% out of the 26% of traffic.

Yahoo's displaying the results from the Directory listing on this one, a much better description than Google's snippet.

Conclusions?

1. Yahoo is sometimes using descriptions from the directory, sometimes the ransom note, for sites listed in the directory.

2. Yahoo is still better at generating traffic for 1 word keywords.

3. Yahoo is also beginning to send traffic for different phrases, already showing proof of re-educating its users.

Just some observations I wanted to share.
