Why do some sites in yahoo directory not have any description - just a link and site title? Is it for some time only or these sites remain in yahoo for always as such and if for small time, how often does yahoo update it?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Web India, if you're referring to Yahoo Web Sites, it's quite random. Sometimes the editors just don't give the site a description. If this is the case, they usually don't add the description later, unless requested by the owner of the site.

If you're talking about Yahoo Google, then the description will be added during the next update.

Thanks 2_much.

I was referring to Yahoo Websites. But this seems strange. How can they add a good site without providing any description? It means all the sites that are with no description are the ones submitted for free becoz I don't think they can do this with paid ones.

Hey web_india,

They've done it with sites I've payed for!

I didn't appeal those because I found them to rank well because most of the weight is given to the title, which contained the primary keywords.

I think this *can* be an advantage.

Interesting thing you mentioned that they do it even for paid ones.

Yes, I now realize it can be an advantage since you pointed it out.

Now, if there was some way to "make" the editors do this ;)

A description for your Yahoo Listing is very much needed. I feel it's never the case to have NO DESCRIPTION over ANY DESCRIPTION. Your description is a factoring in getting a proper listing, although yes your Title and Domain are much more of a factor. But, a desc will bring in traffic for maybe some backup keywords that you are not optimizing for.

From a quick check on a search of my Yahoo listed site, the words in the description aren't enough for it to show up as a directory site.
