I am getting desperate to get into some of the search engines, and from what I am hearing, will have to wait another month to get in with google. What is the easiest and quickest search engine to get in with? Anything is better than nothing...

Incoming links, only assured way of getting into anything worthwhile.

Sometimes you can get into The Open Directory Project [dmoz.org] if you are in a regional category pretty quick.

I regularly submit Danish sites here and they're generally in within 24hrs but for some categories you can wait months...

Don't forget to also add your site to the smaller directories, your site might get picked up quicker by google that way and at the same time you will have more links coming your way (PR)

Holly to be honest you really do have to be patient, nearly all directorys and search engines have to review your site and there is usually a long list of sites to review. Without paying there is no quick way in any major directorys or search engines. here is a few essentials to submit too.

www.dmoz.com
www.google.com
www.alltheweb.com
www.teoma.com (ask jeeves)
www.altavista.com

One of the most important things is to get links to your site...try searching for 'your keyword add url' you might be able to get free listings for your field. spiders will then follow them links and find your site and list it eventually.

! forgot www.yahoo.com!

If you want immediate results you need to get out your wallett.

$300 - Yahoo Directory
$50 setup + PPC - LookSmart Directory
$40 - Inktomi (MSN)
$40 - InfoSpider (AltaVista)
$30 - Lycos (AllTheWeb,Fast)
$30 - Teoma (AskJeeves)

The other option is to do free submissions and hold your breath. On free submissions I've had the best results with AltaVista
