Morning everyone,

I got a little windfall this morning from the tax man. I'm considering a Y! listing for an affiliate sites as a result.

Will I get in?

Brief description
I sell products, this is not a content site. The home page and all the directory indexes list the various products I promotes with a brief description.

Those 'teasers' lead to a full page promoting each product.

Your opinions
Will I be wasting my money trying to get in with a site like this?

Cheers

Morning Nick:

We use the dmoz guidelines and figure that if there is a gray area Yahoo! will let us in for the $$$.

The purpose of a Yahoo! listing is to get found and get traffic.
You only get ONE title and description.

What ONE will you choose?

Do you wish to be found under "affiliate link farm"?
Who searches for "various products"?
Overture Tool = No suggestions for various products

An idea MIGHT be to try for a listing under 1 of the following:
41829 shopping mall
10631 online shopping mall
and see what happens.

Hi

When I say 'various products' I just mean that the stuff is varied. Not that I wish to be found for 'various products'.

THe site has a definate theme.

I just wanted to know if anyone thought my chances of wasting $300 was high or not for an affiliate site?

Cheers...

Personally I wouldn't go for it because Yahoo would probably prefer to add all the non-affiliate sites. But given yours is a directory, it may be hard to say. Nevertheless, good luck! :)

I'd say you have a 70% change of getting the "not sufficient unique content" rejection response when submitting an affiliate site. It depends on how many sites are already in the category, and how easily the editor can recognize that he's already got 20 for that affiliate.
