Yahoo Web Site Match

I am having a some trouble with the web site matches.

I launched a site the was accepted by the Yahoo editors and placed in the categories I sought. Here is the deal:

I go through Yahoo's home page and type my keywords for my search and the site does not come up under web site match. Now on the page with the results, I hit the search button again (with the same search terms and not re-entering the phrase). Guess what, we show up in the top listings.

Anyone experiened anything like this before. I don't understand how the first time I search our keywords we don't show up, but just by hitting the search button a second time, we appear. This is not good for business!

Any insight would be greatly appreciated...

Are your specific "keywords" in the title and description as "Edited/Written" by The Yahoo Editor?

this is always the case when they have changed your specific keywords to suit their editorial policy.

Thanks for the reply.

I do come up (under the web site match) only if I search twice (hit the search button a total of 2 times). We have already submitted and been accepted by Yahoo! about a month ago. This is what is misleading.

Any ideas? It just doesn't make sense that we are in their directory, yet I have to make 2 searches on the same keywords in order to show up...

Hi Brass Monkey, to be honest I've never had that happen to me.

My first thought when reading your post was that you're not yet ranking in the SERP's, meaning you still haven't been awarded points to come up when someone searches for your site.

Is this still happening?

This same thing has been happening to me for the last 2 weeks.

I've noticed that Yahoo is rotating last month's results with the new results from the last update. Very strange.

Hey 2_Much,

We are still experiencing this problem. I was not getting much feedback under this post so I created a new one that got a much better response. There was talk that Yahoo was doing some testing and that was causing the results to jumble around, but still no clear cut reasoning...

But still the problem remains unsolved...

Yes, this is certainly happening. My assumption was that it is taking time to get new sites around all the Yahoo databases (a bit like the Google dance). A sort of Yahoo flux.

I also notice that in some cases new sites appear under US searches before UK (ie: no appearance under a straight search from here, but apprearance when Yahoo is entered via Anonimiser).
