Confused about different yahoos

The category I'm looking at looks the same on dir.yahoo, uk.yahoo, asia.yahoo, ca.yahoo.. Is this standard? If I manage to get a free submission (good luck!) on one of the regional country directories, does that mean it will appear in all of them?

By the same token, will a paid listing be propogated to all of these?

I don't see a thread on this on the last 180 days, sorry if I missed it.

Maybe I am totally misunderstanding how the regional directories work?

Yes the directory (at least the english language directory) is shared through the regional yahoos. Get in for free or paid in any yahoo and you will show up in america and all the rest.

korkus,
Thank You.

SO any consequences to submitting from multiple national yahoo's? (Free submit). Is the english language portion all reviewed by the same people, or does it depend on where you submit?

If the category I was wanting to submit to was listed as paid only in the US (dir.yahoo.com) but accepts free submissions in another directory, and I submit there, would the reviewer be from the country submitted to or the default US review people? I mean am I submitting for the directory in general or only for the region submitted to, should I submit to all of the regions or just pick one?

Hi savvy1, I think the submissions go to the country you submit to. I suggest you pick one and try that first. Good luck!

I am weary of trying. For many months now I have been trying without success.

Yet I cannot let go of $299 because I believe it's an obscene amount of money to ask.

Obscene?

Not unless you're talking about adult submissions. <grin>
(They pay hundreds more per submission)

If you know what you're doing it's a sound investment.

The next two sites that I have going in will bring me traffic at less than 1/2 a cent per click over the next 12 months alone, and possibly much more unless there's a dramatic algo change that knocks me out of the top 20 listings.

Considering the fact that you can't even play in Overture's yard for less than 5 cents per click... (and much more for any keyword that's even remotely popular) I'd say $299 is a bargain.

I'd say $299 is a bargain.

Try getting this price for any other medium with international exposure -- radio, TV, Newspaper, magazines, etc.

Well... when yours news though it's "FREE". :)

Yes, $299 isn't a whole lot of dough in the grand scheme of things. But, when there are 250 sites with free listings that will last forever in the same category, and, a new site has to pay $299 PER YEAR.. its frustrating :)

I'm more trying to understand how the different country yahoo's are related and if I should even bother trying to submit to one or some of them first.
