This questions refers to both yahoo and google. When searching for a keyword or cluster of related keywords in yahoo, the keyword domain name plays a part in the returned result. Example: Searching for "Chicken Noodle Soup" on Yahoo. Yahoo will bring up results with "Chicken Noodle Soup" in the title, desc and also the domain ie: www.chicken-noodle-soup.com . My question is this...

With that same example of a search do you think it would also track the keywords in the domain of a branded URL. Lets say something like.

www.brandeddomain.com/soup/chicken-noodle/

I would appreciate anyone's insight on this matter. I appreciate it.

Your second example may not get into the directory. Most of the time editors won't let subdirectories in... unless you make it the homepage of the site :)

Agreed. Yahoo, like ODP prefers to list the index pages of sites.

Unless the site is enormous and that section offered very unique content, it's unlikely that they would accept it.

I agree. I am asking this questions, in relation to a large content filled web site with very different topics, including a complete resource for each topic. ALthough each topic can be related under my branded domain. For this is the reason I am asking these questions.

Lets just say my site is like about.com , how they have all these subcategories and topics. What do you think then?

Ok...that's a different case. In that case, I would think there was a pretty fair chance of gaining multiple listings.

Is the site informational, like About? Or is it commercial? (I ask, because obviously it would be nice to get a bunch of free listings to the information content rather than having to pay $299 for each one.)

Lets just say it will be informative but at the same time I guess you could say it will be commercial. We shall see if we can get a Free Listing from Yahoo or if we will have to pay $299 for each submitted category. Minor detail, although it would be nice to get some free listing. Thanks for the questions to my research questions.
