In the Yahoo directory I thought they ordered it by Google PR. It looks like it is alphabetical right now. How do they rank their directory right now? Do they only rank a search in the directory via PR?

I am not sure I understand your question 100%. The Yahoo directory lists sites within the directory alphabetically and always has as long as I can remember. The Google directory lists sites by PR.

ok, so the directory is alphabetical. But when people search Yahoo the results are supplied from the directory but they are ordered by Google PR. I wonder why Yahoo doesn't organize the directories via PR.

beacuse you can't get enough differentiation off a title, description and url.
And it also dilutes the problem of the crappy descriptions Yahoo editors write for you.

I think they are just trying to differentiate from the directory side of things from the search side of things. Trying to be all things to all people and give different ways of returning results. Plus, I wouldn't want to promote Google PR too heavily on the directory side if you are now considering them a threat.
