Submitting a sub directory of a domain before submitting the main domain

I've never tried this before...

I have a relatively big site (with a few distinct components) and I'm thinking about submitting them separately to Y! under 2 different cats.... one listing for the main domain, one for a directory 2 levels down. the reason I want to do this, is that I don't want them to lump the sub site description as the bulk of the total listing description. (If they do that, I might have a problem later down the road justifying why the site needs a second listing.... which, for the sake of the argument, let's just say it does:))

to prevent engaging an editor too much and risk slicing my own throat, I was thinking of doing the sub-site first. anyone have any experiences with this? I bet 99% of the time, the root domain gets submitted first, *then* the sub-site within the domain....

your thoughts?

hey BT, why can't we ever edit 'titles'... or maybe add some spell checking on the next version:)

Never tried it that way, don't know if it will work. Mac and Hunter are the experts on this one.
As far as I know subs must be like this, dogs.dogboy.com.
At this point I am holding off on any new submissions to Yahoo until we find out who is going to be used for secondary results. Fast?

I don't know about Yahoo, but ODP didn't take a sub-site like that first, and it was definitely different topic.

... back.

I just dropped 6 bills on the table, and rolled the dice (...against much better advice from just about everybody I’ve talked to:)) ...I'll let you all know how it goes.

Basically, I was thinking that if we are going to test the waters, this was the perfect site to do it with. I gave them a mouthful of a title, and a straight up description..... on a mini site... sitting at the end of a url string, on a domain that has not been submitted yet... I guess we'll see but I think I did it as well as it could be done... timing is right there, it is the right site, it is related, but still totally different than (and independent of) the main site. And if they take it, it might put me over the top in Google in 2 months or so (and maybe by then I'll get it listed in odp, which would be killer)

if they write me a letter saying no, then I have one appeal... then I'll suggest the index of the root domain, and combine all descriptions into a condensed one that they will take... or give them one with a little spice and an easy edit:) ... at that point its a win/lose situation... and if I lose that, I am a complete idiot, and I will have to shell out another $600:)

so... 'BANG!' ...I just capped off the first barrel... I'm saving the second round for behind the ear, just to make sure;)

Congratulations, dogboy. Looks like they like your site (and $).
