Yahoo web pages

Do they exist?

I've just got a new job and I am taking over the SEO for that company.

Having read the material from the previous people that did the SEO I noticed that they included Yahoo Web Pages as one of the engines to submit to aswell as Yahoo itself.

Surely the web pages they are referring to are produced by Google and therefore if I submit to Google I will appear in Yahoo web pages?

Hope someone can clear this up for me!

Pretty much answered it bongo, Yahoo web page results are google, while their directory is another entity on its own made by Yahoo

in regards to "Yahoo web pages existing"...im not sure, because it seems all those sites that pay $ to get into the directory always precede my patience in reaching the web pages bit after a search ;)

Also the spiders they have written down for Yahoo web pages are Slurp, Googlebot 0.3 and Backrub.

Slurp as far as I know is Inktomi, Googlebot is obvious and I have no idea about Backrub.

Anyone help me on the Backrub bit?!

Someone was having a laugh. You might want to speak to the guy who was doing it before you. Inktomi hasn't been providing Yahoo with results for ages. Don't know who Backrub is - could use one though...

mmm, think I need to sit down and completely update it!

Thanks for all the help! I've only been on this site for 4 days now and the wealth of info I've acquired has been vast, although my head is ready to explode ;-)

Thanks you guys!

I think you can find backrub at a museum? :)

It sounds like whoever was doing the site before went on holiday ... roughly about 1997 and forgot that they maintained a web site

Just found this which clears it up - I quote:

"The spider formerly known as Backrub has changed to Google Bot. Backrub is 100% defunct."

It looks like Google started out as Backrub.
