and I was told through the Forum that, the search engine will ignore the JS file, so that means the search engine will fail to index my web-site.
2.) Besides that I was told not necessary to put the description and keyword on all the pages of my web-site. I'm here would like to clarify whether the infor that I get is true or not as I have gone through an artile about the search engine, in the article, it mentions that the indexes of search engine are generated automatically, base on the words and phrases that are found on we pages.
3.) While we are registering our site, we are requested to provide our site URL, Description, Keyword as well as comment about our web-site. As I know all these information will be saved into the search engine database and we will be accessing the database when we enter keyword searches. My question is since the description and keywords that we provided have already save into the search engine database, so, why we still need to put the Description and Keyword into all of our web pages. (if the question 2 not true). I do come across some web-site which never put their description and meta keyword. would it affect the search engine to index out site? Please help. Thanks!
4.) Is there any web-site that you can recomment for me to have better understanding of how search engine work.
5.) I have already registered my web-site at Yahoo, but the ranking is terrible, can't find, only can be found if i type my domain name.
Thanks!!
It sounds like one one question is the difference between search engines and directories.
Directories (like YAHOO! and ODP - www.dmoz.org) are databases full of sites that are reviewed by people. When you submit, a person looks at the title and description you put on the submission form, and checks to see that it accurately reflects the content of your site. If it does they will use your title and description. If they feel it does not, they will modify it so that it does.
Search engines like Google and AltaVista build their databases by using software to visit pages within a site. Search engines will look at the titles and descriptions you have on each page of the site. It is by no means required to put them on any pages of the site, but they can help improve search engine rankings if the titles and descriptions reflect the content of the individual pages.
From the keywords and description above, it looks like it might be beneficial to focus on regionally specific keywords as well as search engines and directories popular in Malaysia.
The forums here are probably the best place to learn about search engines. websearch.about.com searchenginewatch.com and searchengineforums.com are a few other sites that you may find useful.
It appears that the way to improve rankings in YAHOO! (if you are in the directory) may be to improve your PageRank [webmasterworld.com] in Google.
You should first determine if you are listed in the YAHOO! directory of sites or in the YAHOO! web pages which are supplied by Google.
People may be able to give you more specific advise if you put the site in question in your profile.
If you were to measure the amount of time you spend on each aspect of a site, the time it takes to write a unique title, description (and maybe keywords) outweighs many other aspects of a site. Maybe even for some SE's a well considered title is just as important as the meaty content you provide on the page (as far as a webmaster and his hit counter are concerned) I guess
