I was maintaining a client's listing and HUZZAH --- New GUI.

Then, just as fast as it appeared, it dissappeared.

I went offline and then brought it up from my cache, screensaved it, and now you can see it toohoo!

Note the four tabs up top:

1. Web Search
2. Yahoo! Directory
3. Yahoo! News
4. Yahoo! Premium Research

Premium Research? Could this mean that Yahoo! is trying to compete with Google Answers? Are they covering bases in preparation to dump their partnership in favor of Overture?

Also, what's the deal with all of the white space on the side of the listings?

Looks like the perfect amount of space to fit an AdWords ad - or something like it.

As far as the Yahoo Premium Research is concerned I think it is a deal they worked out with Northern Light a few months ago. I don't remember any of the particulars, just that they were going to provide Northern Light paid articles. I have also heard others here mention links on Yahoo to articles that cost a couple of bucks.

Premium Research

Could this be the same as "Research Documents" documents that exists already?

Here it is:

Seems to be similar to Northern Light's service.

May have a connection with this thread:

That function was powered by Nothern Light before.
