Obviously there are "local" listings that can influence rankings, but filtering the local listings, the NO local listings have a different rankings compared to yahoo.com results.
Sites ranking better on regional Yahoo, seem to rank better in yahoo.com after every yahoo.com refresh.
My question is: do the clicks on regional yahoo directory results influence the yahoo.com directory results?
(the more clicks you receive on regional yahoo directory, the better you will rank on yahoo.com directory?)
I have the impression that Yahoo considers several factors:
- keywords in the directory
- keywords in title and
description of the site
- keywords in the URL of the site
- an unidentified factor!!
This unidentified algo could be Google PR or another factor.
I monitered some "competitor" sites in the same Yahoo directory and considering all the factors I think that when the first three factors are about the same, sites can rank better thanks to click through data (In fact, assuming the Google PR can influence the ranking, the results would have been different).
