Curious what the factors would be that cause a lower listing on Yahoo than Google and what I can do about it.

Google and Yahoo have different criteria for ranking web sites, although a strong ranking and PR on Google will help your Yahoo ranking.

imho
Don't do anything.
You might run the risk of a reduction in rank.

b) go make 100 similar pages of higher quality. One result is nothing - when you get a hundred that rank high - call us...

Two different algos altogether discod. Improving your rankings in Google might improve your rankings in Yahoo *IF* you have a good title and description, with the appropriate keywords.
