Is this a bad time to request a change?

Might I suddenly find myself paying?

I have a client with a (free) Yahoo listing that has no description, just a title. If anything would be a candidate for the (free) Yahoo change form, this listing would be it.

But I don't want to open up Pandora's box. I'm worried that the change could be construed as a new listing and trigger fees. The client would be happier with the current free listing, such as it is, than to have to come up with a yearly renewal. I'm debating whether I should rush and change it before they start charging for changes, or simply leave things alone lest this is already in the cards.

That's a tough call, Robert. I also have a free listing that I would like to modify. However, because of the concern you expressed here, I have elected to leave well enough alone.

I didn't get the impression they were going to be modifying old listings or requesting payment for sites that got in for free.
Tough call...do the benefits outweigh the cons?

If the site scores fine without the description, I wouldn't change it.

I noticed that several sites score fine (for relevant keywords) without the description when the relevant keywords are in the category title.

I'm in the same position, but I'm not going to mess with Yahoo any more. Those guys are unscrupulous and might just say: "give us $300 or else your site will get removed. It has got a banner on it, therefore it is now deemed commercial."

Yahoo! - boy do I hate you.

>>If the site scores fine without the description, I wouldn't change it.<<

The only value of the current listing, which completely lacks a description, is drill down (it's in a reasonably clearly identified category), or the link boost it lends to Google. Absolutely nothing from Yahoo directory search, unless you search for the company name, in which case why bother?
