I read in a post that some big corporations have multiple placements in Yahoo!...

here is the quote:
Directories expect and accept that larger corporations have multiple listings. If you can capture a few of these off the main site with a domain you control and then build a site with doorways (content rich) and such around it then you’ve got a good chance of building on your PR and doing some creative linking.

It was from PAYNT.

Does anyone agree with this. I thought that Yahoo! would only allow one listing in it's directory per company. Is there some kind of a loophole?

Large companies sometimes are relevant for a few topics. They also may have a special deal with Yahoo. I definitely agree with paynt. I have not seen small companies do this consistently although there may be a possibility to get a regional and a business listing for each.

It is possible if you've got a good reason to add your site to that second category. We've attempted and succeded in it before but only tried when we were absolutely certain that the site belonged in the second category.

My site is listed in three categories at Y! and it's definetly not a big company. I just requested it. However, the down side is that your hit ratio declines, hence PR also declines in the SERPs.

Do you suppose GORP had to pay $299 for each category?

Nope - those listings have been there for ages - before Yahoo! charged for reviews!

They must have a very special relationship - If memory serves, they were a preferred travel supplier for yahoo Travel!
